Nicole Bankhead, a Licensed Profession Counselor Intern, earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling with additional courses completed to become an LPC. During her graduate studies, she was honored with ability to become a part of the Chi Sigma Iota International honor society which values academic and professional excellence in counseling. She is also a recognized as a national board certified counselor. Nicole has over 8 years’ experience mentoring children, adolescents, and teens, and was a school counselor for several years. Her most recent career was at a Behavior Transition Program working with the toughest teens in the school district who were receiving special education services for Autism, ADHD, Emotional Disturbance, Anxiety, and other challenging behaviors. She explains herself in the paragraphs below:

I have always been a “helper” over the years working in a variety of capacities in schools, businesses, family law, special education, and nonprofit organizations. As well as a mother to a preteen, twins, and two very large dogs. I believe that my experiences and education has helped me to better understand the challenges my clients face.

I provide a safe and supportive environment in which my clients can explore challenging issues. I strongly believe the power of a therapeutic relationship begins with unconditional positive regard and good listening skills. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and solution focused therapy to help my clients deal with depression, anxiety, loss, anger, trauma, relationship building, and many other life stressors.

I am here to help make the therapeutic processes as welcoming as possible. I work in a relaxed environment that resembles warm conversations in a soothing office setting. We will work together to set goals and monitor our progress on these goals. Together we will work on developing personal coping strategies that target current problems and negative thought processes, behaviors, and emotional regulation.
