I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Intern, and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. I graduated from Texas A&M University in Texarkana in May of 1999. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. I earned a Masters in Education/Human Growth and Development from Lamar University, in Beaumont, TX, in August of 2003.
My professional experience includes group and individual therapy within the federal government in the prison system and in the private sector with unaccompanied children under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). My previous work experience has afforded me the opportunity to work with a population from different socioeconomic, cultural and nationality backgrounds. I have worked with adult population who has experienced behavioral issues such as, Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety; Physical, Sexual and Mental Abuse, Sexual Offending, Drug Abuse, Anger Management, Parenting Skills, and Grief and Loss. I also have an experience working with minors who have experienced Depression, Anxiety, Physical, Sexual and Mental Abuse, Adolescent Issues, and Grief and Loss.
I take a strong commitment to individual and family empowerment.Though I tend to use different therapeutic approaches, I mainly use PCT (Person-Centered Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Solution Focused Therapy.These therapies help motivate, encourage and strengthen all clients and their families in their approach to reach and surpass their short and long term goals.
