I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and also a Certified Teacher. Currently, I am being supervised by the innovative counseling leader, Sherell Hebert, M.A., LPC-S. I proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. During my military career I gained a wealth of knowledge working with sailors and their families suffering from addictions, depression, trauma, and numerous other life challenges. This experience coupled with my 8 years in the public school system has exposed me to numerous challenges the family unit faces. Therefore, my passion is working with individuals and their families to strengthen this vital network.
My preferred counseling approaches are Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT) and Solution-Focused Based Therapy (SFBT). Both approaches focus on solutions to help individuals improve their quality of life. The human mind is extremely complex. Therefore, an eclectic approach is often needed. CBT and SFBT are approaches that are ideal for integrating with other approaches.
My degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University, Master of Arts in Special Education from Phoenix University, Masters of Arts in Human Services Counseling (Marriage and Family) from Liberty University, and Educational Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University.
